At the beginning…

Lehvallée is born of two sisters shared love for their native land and their sheer desire to contribute to the local community and make a difference.

Sonam, who lives in France, wants to create a project that will not only help her stay connected to her cultural roots, but also bring value and serve the local community in Ladakh. Through this activity, she also wants to share a small piece of Ladakh with the western world. In this adventure, she is joined by her younger sister, Kunzes, who is passionate about creating a social enterprise.

Together, they create Lehvallée handmade textile. Sonam, in France, devotes herself to the products and image of this very young brand, in which she wants to instill the values that are dear to her, while Kunzes, in Ladakh supervises the production.

They make sure to fully control the different stages of production. This is a priority for them, in order to guarantee the quality and origin of their products.

The designs are imagined by Sonam in collaboration with European designers. Kunzes takes care of the daily management of the workshop and the natural dyes of which she has the secret. Every action, every decision is thought out to remain consistent with the values that are dear to them and that they wish to convey through their products.

Authenticity, respect for the environment, respect for humans but also animals, are all words that make sense to them and translate into their approach.

Our values

At the core of our values there’s only one word: Respect.

Respect for the environment: the earth is our most precious asset, protecting it is at the heart of our approach. We only use natural materials, and choose not to dye our fibers with chemical pigments. Thus, all the colors you have the pleasure of finding on our products are organic dyes obtained from local, medicinal or aromatic plants from our Himalayan soil.

Respect for our employees and partners: it is not only a question of making money but also of revitalizing the economy of Ladakh. Our project is vast and aims to improve the living conditions of nomadic herders, so that their children can in turn perpetuate this activity. It is also about ensuring a stable income for ladakhi women, spinners or weavers who work with us.

Last but not the least, respect for you, our dear customers, by ensuring you a product of incomparable quality. Each piece is produced in very small numbers because our raw material, Ladakh cashmere, at this level of purity, is in limited quantities.
